Frequently Asked Questions

General

There are many things to consider to find out which course or plan is best for you!

If you want to boost your skills, we recommend enrolling in a group course. These are structured in a way for you to learn all of the techniques and knowledge to reach a certain level, all the while providing regular meetings and assignments to get you going. Being in a group, you can also get additional insight from classmates and improve together.

If you’re looking for a long-term improvement and support, our career coaching program would be best. In this program. You are paired with a coach and meet regularly for 6 months+, getting consistent feedback from an experienced coach who’s focused on helping you improve. This program is designed to follow you all through your cubing career, tracking your improvement and helping you quickly achieve your best cuber self.

If your availability is limited and simply want a few pointers to jump start your cubing, we also offer completely custom coaching.

For most students, online courses would be more appropriate. However, if you are in Montreal, we also offer these in person, offering the optimal interactive experience together with our teacher and classmates.

Before enrolling, make sure to read the descriptions carefully, check the time of the courses, how often they are held as well as the registration time. Once chosen, you can use the registration form to register or request additional information.

Courses and teaching are complementary, and both key to strong improvement and bringing the most out of your cubing talent.

Courses typically involve going in depth with content in a structured manner, spending most of the time directly teaching students each step of the way. Usually, courses are best suited to learning whole new methods or techniques, and making a leap from a specific large barrier.

During coaching sessions, the coach recognizes the needs of the students, then provides appropriate resources and advice, letting the student do the majority of learning on their own. Coaching is best suited for continuous improvement and fine tuning of techniques to bring the most out of them.

Our courses are open to children of all ages. In person courses are suitable for children for children as young as 6 years old without needing additional adult supervision. Young children usually understand concepts very quickly, and being exposed to three dimensional logic puzzles from a young age is very beneficial to develop reasoning and problem solving skills, dexterity, three dimensional perception and more. For online courses, we do recommend an adult be present for children under the age of 9 years old to help keep them focused and guide them through the steps of the course.

If you are unable to attend one course session, you must inform us by email 48 hrs in advance. In this case, you will receive Cubing Life Academy credit equivalent to the value of the course which you missed. This credit will be recorded and can be later used to purchase other courses.

If you fail to notify us by email 48 hours before the course, you will not be refunded or credited any amount.

Cubing Life Academy is based in Montreal, Canada. Therefore, course times are online in the Eastern Standard Time timezone. This is the same timezone as used in Montreal, Toronto, New York, Boston, Florida, Lima.

However, our teachers and coaches are based all over the word in Canada, USA, Europe and Asia, so are available at all times of the day.

If a course is listed as Out of Stock in our store, this means that the currently listed course group is already full. We are most likely working on scheduling another group.

If you would like to register and are free at another time, please contact us by email (info@cubing.life) or by using the request for information form to tell us of your interest in the course and send us your availability. We will work with you to try and schedule a new group.

Group Courses

In order to ensure the continual running of our courses, there is a minimum number of students that must be registered for group courses before they can start. The exact number depends on the course. See the course details. If that number is not attained by the registration deadline, an email will be sent out to all of the participants who registered informing them of the two possible choices:

Option 1. Continue waiting for more students to register and achieve the required number of registrants. Please note that once the course does begin, there might be a change in schedule compared to the original plan. If inconvenient, students can choose option 2.

Option 2. Cancel registration and obtain a full refund for your registration fee.

Coaching

The main factor which will influence your acceptance for coaching is how well your availability matches with your coach’s availability.

In some cases, if coach’s availability is limited, they may prioritize those who demonstrate a higher potential.

The best way to increase your chances of getting accepted is very clearly indicating your availability, and demonstrating your high potential and willingness to put effort into the program.

We will reply every request to the email included in the application, including those who get rejected.

We will do our best to reply within a week of submission. However, there may be times when coaches are very busy and we’ll have to wait a little longer to send a reply.

Also please make sure to check your spam folder, and that your email was typed correctly when submitting the application.
